Today I want to talk about an amazing author who I’ve been fortunate enough to collaborate with on a few box sets, the always lovely Sabrina York. \u201cWere you checking out my butt?\u201d he repeated. \u201cOut there, in the yard?\u201d Oh, she loved the playful lilt of his smile. That and the hint of vulnerability in his eyes, as though he didn\u2019t know. As though he weren\u2019t sure.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n

His smile dropped and her belly with it.<\/p>\n

She hurried to add, \u201cI was checking out your chest. I didn\u2019t get to your butt yet.\u201d She twirled a finger. \u201cTurn around.\u201d<\/p>\n

He did, and he even waggled it for her, but he held her gaze. His glimmered.<\/p>\n

It sent heat licking through her, heat that was probably too intense, at least for a guy she\u2019d just met. Well, kind of just met. Really just met. She didn\u2019t know much about him except he was damn hot, and a firefighter, and ex-military. And Cody\u2019s brother. If he was like Cody, it probably wasn\u2019t a good idea to encourage a flirtation with him\u2014no matter how sexy she found him. In fact, it probably wasn\u2019t a good idea to encourage anything with him\u2014until she knew him a little better.<\/p>\n

Still, she gusted a melodramatic sigh. \u201cI knew it was a good idea to come and stay at the infamous Stud Ranch.\u201d<\/p>\n

He barked a laugh and then made a face. \u201cNone of that was my idea, by the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHmm.\u201d She gave the frosting a stir. \u201cLet me guess\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYup. Cody. But I gotta admit, it did save the ranch.\u201d He leaned over and peered at her work. \u201cWhat are you making?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cButterscotch cupcakes.\u201d<\/p>\n

His eyes lit up. \u201cSeriously?\u201d<\/p>\n

She waggled the spoon at him. \u201cFor Claire.\u201d<\/p>\n

He watched her with puppy dog eyes as she spooned frosting into the bag and piped it on in a practiced swirl. \u201cShe\u2019ll never know if you give one to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m pretty sure she will.\u201d<\/p>\n

His lip pooched out. God, it was a beautiful lip. She tried not to stare. \u201cWhat kind of frosting is it?\u201d he asked in a woebegone voice.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaple bacon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat sounds\u2026dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n

She grinned and scooped some from the bowl with a finger. Without thinking she held it out. \u201cWanna taste?\u201d<\/p>\n

His eyes flared. Muscles bunched. He took her wrist in a warm cuff and leaned forward and, easing her finger into his mouth\u2026he sucked.<\/p>\n

Too late, she realized her mistake.<\/p>\n

She should never have allowed this man to put his mouth on her. For as he drew her into that warm, velvet cavern, lapping and nibbling on her tender skin\u2014long after the frosting was gone\u2014she realized she was an idiot for thinking she could just be friends with him. She was an idiot for imagining for a moment that she could resist his allure.<\/p>\n

He was far too desirable.<\/p>\n

Their gazes locked. A tumult, a conflagration passed between them. Without loosening his hold on her, he came around the counter and pulled her into his arms. And then, he kissed her.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
